@ mention between Slack and Microsoft Teams

@ mention between Webex and Slack

Step by step

Step 1

To @mention an external contact in a universal channel first find their full user name.

  • How to view universal channel members in Microsoft Teams.
  • How to view universal channel members in Slack.
  • How to view universal channel members in Webex.

Step 2

@mentions will only work if you @ their full name as its listed in the member list.

In the above example, I would type and send @Jacob Ross (with the spaces) in order to mention Jacob in my universal channel or DM.

Why does it look like the @mention didn't work on my end?

If you're @mentioning a user on a different platform from you, it might look like you sent it wrong. Here's an example of Slack vs. Webex:

When Lucy mentioned Jennifer on Webex, the Webex text looks like plain text. However, if you check on the left side, the @mention correctly notified Jennifer on Slack. The user experience is optimized for the receiver of the @mention. We are working hard to optimize the experience for the senders!

Why do @mentions send in threads for Webex?

Since we use adaptive cards to imitate your messages in Webex, the best way we can include @mentions is to reply to the original message with the @mention in the thread. As adaptive cards improve in terms of capability, Mio will be working hard to improve the user experience as well.
