Before installing Mio on Microsoft Teams, please check the following settings:


Microsoft Teams admin center

The following settings are accessible by Microsoft Teams admins only.

Manage apps

  1. Go to the Manage apps section of your admin center.

  2. Click the Org-wide app settings button in the top right corner.

  3. Turn ON both Allow third-party apps. Click Save.

  4. In the search box on the right, search for “Mio”.

  5. Change the Status to Allowed.

Permissions policies

  1. Go to the Permissions policies section of your admin center.

  2. Select the permission policy your organization is currently using.

  3. In the Third-party apps section, choose one of these three options:

  • If your company chooses to Allow specific apps and block all others, add the Mio app to the allow list.

  • NOTE: If you made changes to this policy, it could take 12-48 hours to take effect.


Authorize Mio in Azure

  1. Sign in to the Azure portal as a Global Administrator.

  2. Select Azure Active Directory > Enterprise applications. Search for Mio in the search bar and click on the Mio name.

  3. In the left sidebar, click Permissions. Then, click the button Grant admin consent for [your org].

  4. Click Accept on the list of permissions that the app needs.


Matching user account emails

Prior to performing Full Account Sync, please let your Mio representative know if your users sign in with different email addresses on both chat platforms.

For example, if your users have john.smith@organization.com to sign in to Teams and smithj@organization.com to sign in to Slack, your Mio representative will need to help you prior to syncing your users.


Create a test team and channel

Step 1

Open Microsoft Teams.

Step 2

Click on Teams on the left and then Join or create a team at the bottom.

Step 3

Click the Create team button and choose From scratch and Public.

Step 4

Put "Mio Microsoft Team" as the team name and click Create.

Step 5

On the next screen, add any other test users as members of the team.

Step 6

Click the ··· next to "Mio Microsoft Team" and then click Add channel.

Step 7

Name the channel "Existing Channel" and then click Add. Repeat the previous step and create another channel called "Native Teams Channel."
